Views from Kibbutz Neot Semadar, an organic community in Israel
Kibbutz Neot Semadar is located in the Southern Negev Desert of Israel, about 60 km. north of Eilat. The Kibbutz was established in 1989 by a group of friends interested in creating a learning community that focuses on cooperation and creativity in daily life. As individuals in a dynamic community, we explore what it means to live together as co-learners, observing ourselves in everyday activities and relationships. Our interest in relationship extends to the environment through organic farming, desert architecture, water recycling, The Art Center, winery, and more.
Tours, restaurant & guest rooms are welcoming visitors. Today there are 90 adult members (families and singles), 70 children of various ages, and about 50 volunteers of all ages.
11 hours of sculpturing summarized to 2 minutes. Yair Aharon sculptured 2 benches shaped as open books in a Be’er-Sheva high school with the students’ participation. On the completed sculpture appears the following inscription: “A little bit of fragrance always clings to the hands that gives you roses” ― Robin S. Sharma.

Volunteering
Veterans’ Garden Restoration with OneDay Volunteering
During the volunteering, the community garden of the WW2 veterans’ was restored and plants were planted. Afterwards, the veterans accompanied the volunteers and sang songs.
Music by the soloists of the veterans’ band. This operation was the initiative of Itzik Helman, chairman of IDF pensioners’ volunteer committee and Green Be’er Sheva NGO.
